This was a fantastic project for HG Landscapes and a great opportunity to work in one of London’s most prestigious areas. The three-month project involved many different areas and elements of landscaping and provided many challenges and rewards throughout.
The landscaping came as the final part of a huge building process where the entire house was rebuilt within the shell of original brick work. The construction project ran for over 2 years, with timing of utmost importance. We not only had to undertake the entire project through an immaculately finished house, but we had to deliver the project to strict deadlines whilst dealing with several different sub-contracting elements. We also worked with the existing builders on site and coordinated a single day road closure and crane lift.
It was a huge logistical challenge that went without a hitch and the result was one of the most pleasing gardens we have ever produced. The transformation from building site to finished garden took 3 months of intense effort on site and in the office.
The beautiful design sweeps effortlessly around the plot and incorporates the contours of the land and natural shape of the area, creating a garden that flows seamlessly and is perfectly proportioned. The formal paving at the house on three different levels meets the lawn and sends two arcs of stepping stones to lead one whichever way you choose to explore the garden.
Beautiful beds line the way as you take in the elegant garden buildings and grass steps. The gazebo offers a lovely seating area to take in the vista back toward the house. The informal ‘wilderness’ area includes a fire pit and more natural planting that offers a second secluded seating area to take in the surroundings.
This inspirational design was the work of Liz Sanderson and Emma Neve of Neve & Sanderson who we have collaborated with on several wonderful projects.
